Missoula County supports HB 150, Generally revise 9-1-1 laws, up for hearing this afternoon in the House Energy, Technology and Federal Relations Committee. This clean-up bill was drafted with the Department of Administration and has general support of the State 9-1-1 Advisory Council. It would allow tribal governments and reservations that host a Public Safety Answering Point (aka 9-1-1 center) to receive quarter fund distributions from the state and to participate in the 9-1-1 grant program. Additionally, this bill aims to add extensions of deadlines currently in statute. These extensions and clean-up language are particularly important as the current dates listed in statute cannot be met. Missoula County relies on the disbursement of these funds for our 9-1-1 operations and will seek grant funding in the future to build out a next generation 9-1-1 network.
