    Representatives,

Missoula County supports HB 154, Generally revise laws related to disposal and destruction of public records, on the House floor this afternoon. Currently, local governments must try to construe which of two conflicting codes to follow: One that allows counties to dispose of records without a district court’s permission, and one that does not. This bill would clarify statute language so counties could dispose of original records once copies have been made in accordance with statute. This would eliminate an unnecessary and overly burdensome system that often requires a district court order to perform routine administrative tasks, such as replacing hard files with electronic versions.

Please support HB 154. Representative Sullivan, thank you for carrying this bill.
