Missoula County opposes HB 227, Remove restrictions on possession of certain animals as pets, up for hearing this afternoon in the Agriculture Committee. The bill would allow for ownership of wild animals such as raccoons and skunks, and it would be extremely difficult for animal control officers to verify sources of origination and the effectiveness of rabies vaccinations in such animals, ultimately resulting in a public health risk.
