    Missoula County supports SB 114: Generally revise stalking and orders of protection laws, before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. SB 114 improves Montana's laws relating to domestic violence, specifically pertaining to the stalking provision. The current law has a significant flaw in that it states that the accused must "purposely or knowingly" cause emotional distress or harm to the victim. The proposed language changes that to "knows or should know that the course of conduct would cause a reasonable person to...". Further, the proposed changes modernize the law to make sure that internet and social media-based stalking can be charged.
