Representative Winter, Missoula County supports HB 453: Revise laws related to suicide prevention, up for hearing this afternoon in the House Human Services Committee. The bill does three important things: 1) adds suicidality to the definition of a "high-risk child with multiagency service needs" which is key in getting someone the services they need; 2) includes suicide intervention programs in care of high-risk kids; and 3) appropriates $500k to DPHHS to be distributed to state and tribal agencies for suicide prevention activities for youth and/or schools.
