Allow for alcohol cigar bars

    Representatives,

Missoula County opposes HB 644, Allow for alcohol cigar bars, on the House floor this afternoon. This bill would allow any of the 1,500 businesses with all-beverage liquor licenses in Montana to create cigar bars. This new exemption to the Montana Clean Indoor Air Act would put employees and non-smoking patrons at risk. Cigars contain the same toxic and carcinogenic compounds found in cigarettes, and secondhand smoke from them can cause lung cancer and heart disease in nonsmokers. Montanans have a right to breathe smoke-free air in indoor public places. HB 644 is bad for public health and erodes Montana’s Clean Indoor Air Act.

    Please oppose HB 644.
