Missoula County supports SB 320, Clarifying laws regarding cost of care for animals seized, on the Senate floor this afternoon. Montana counties are charged with responding to animal care situations that sometimes result in lengthy litigation. The costs associated with caretaking animals stretch an already tight animal control budget and put the efficacy of critical operations at risk. Missoula County incurred nearly $20,000 in costs associated with one case involving three horses several years ago. Those costs amounted to more than 10 percent of the animal control division’s annual operating budget.
Please support SB 320. Senator Salomon, thank you sponsoring this bill.
